Prohibited & Restricted Items

Highly flammable liquids, gases, aerosols, and solids that pose serious fire or explosion risks during transport.

• ● Gasoline, diesel, kerosene, and other petroleum-based fuels
• ● Paints, thinners, solvents, varnishes, lacquers, and adhesives
• ● Aerosol cans (deodorants, insecticides, air fresheners, hairspray)
• ● Alcohol-based products exceeding 500ml (perfumes, sanitizers)
• ● Fire lighters, matches, charcoal lighter fluid, and camping fuel
• ● Compressed flammable gases (butane, propane, acetylene cylinders)

Note: Even small quantities can become extremely dangerous if leaked or exposed to heat. All flammable materials must be declared in advance. BebaSwift reserves the right to refuse any suspicious shipment.

Strictly prohibited — items with explosive or pyrotechnic properties.

• ● Fireworks, firecrackers, sparklers, and pyrotechnic devices
• ● Ammunition, bullets, gunpowder, primers, and detonators
• ● Explosives of any kind (military or civilian use)
• ● Replica or imitation explosive devices that could cause alarm
• ● Flares, emergency signal devices, and smoke bombs

Note: Any shipment suspected of containing explosives will be reported immediately to the Kenya Police Service and NTSA. Zero tolerance policy.

Firearms, bladed weapons, and self-defence items restricted under Kenyan law.

• ● Firearms of any kind (pistols, rifles, shotguns)
• ● Ammunition, cartridges, magazines, and primers
• ● Knives with blades longer than 10cm, switchblades, daggers
• ● Brass knuckles, batons, clubs, and other blunt weapons
• ● Tasers, stun guns, pepper spray, and electric shock devices
• ● Crossbows, bows, arrows, and slingshots

Note: Licensed transport of firearms or ammunition is only possible through specially authorised carriers with valid documentation. Contact support before booking.

Any substance classified as illegal under Kenyan or international law.

• ● Illicit drugs and narcotics (heroin, cocaine, cannabis, khat in prohibited quantities)
• ● Prescription medicines shipped without proper licensing and documentation
• ● Drug paraphernalia intended for illegal use
• ● Synthetic drugs and new psychoactive substances

Note: BebaSwift will immediately report any suspected illegal substances to the Anti-Narcotics Unit and relevant authorities.

Lithium batteries are a major fire hazard if damaged, short-circuited, or improperly packaged.

• ● Loose lithium-ion or lithium metal batteries (except small approved consumer types)
• ● Damaged, swollen, leaking, or recalled batteries
• ● E-cigarettes and vaping devices with batteries installed
• ● Power banks exceeding 100Wh without special UN-approved packaging
• ● Electric vehicle batteries or large industrial battery packs

Note: Small consumer batteries (AA, AAA, button cells) may be accepted only if terminals are fully insulated with tape and securely packaged. Always declare batteries when booking.

Hazardous chemicals and materials that can cause severe harm to people or the environment.

• ● Corrosive acids and bases (sulphuric acid, hydrochloric acid, sodium hydroxide)
• ● Toxic chemicals, pesticides, and poisons
• ● Radioactive materials and contaminated items
• ● Asbestos and materials containing asbestos
• ● Infectious medical waste, biological samples, and sharps

Note: Transport of hazardous chemicals requires special permits, UN-approved packaging, and trained personnel. Contact us for guidance on licensed shipments.

Items that require special temperature control, ventilation, or care.

• ● Live animals, birds, insects, fish, or reptiles
• ● Fresh food and perishables requiring continuous refrigeration
• ● Plants, seedlings, or agricultural produce requiring phytosanitary certificates
• ● Human or animal remains, organs, or tissues

Note: Special arrangements may be possible for licensed medical, veterinary, or agricultural shipments. Advance approval and documentation are mandatory.

High-value or irreplaceable items carry significant risk and limited liability.

• ● Large amounts of cash (above KSh 100,000 without prior written approval)
• ● Jewellery, precious stones, gold, diamonds, and high-value watches
• ● Original passports, national ID cards, land titles, and certificates
• ● Negotiable instruments (cheques, bearer bonds, bank drafts)

Note: High-value shipments must be declared and may require additional insurance. We strongly recommend using registered secure courier services for such items.

Items suspected of being illegal or infringing intellectual property rights.

• ● Counterfeit goods and fake branded products
• ● Pirated media (movies, music, software)
• ● Stolen property or goods without clear proof of ownership
• ● Items violating international trade sanctions or embargoes

Note: BebaSwift cooperates fully with law enforcement agencies on all matters involving counterfeit or stolen goods.

Items that may be accepted only with prior approval and special conditions.

• ● Dry ice and other temperature-controlled substances
• ● Oversized or overweight packages beyond standard limits
• ● Fragile items without adequate protective packaging
• ● Goods requiring special customs or export documentation
• ● Religious artefacts or culturally sensitive items
